Update-a-potumus

Long time no see, kids. I've been reading all your journals though :) Werd. So, I haven't posted on LJ in a long time. Perhaps an update is in order.

Condensed version: Got a job. Got a cat. New tattoos and piercings. New friends, old friends, DRAMA LLAMA LIKE WHOA.

Now, let's see what I can remember from the last 5 months.

I got this job in may, but I still have it. Working at the busiest Wal-Mart in Ottawa, and there are 8 in Ottawa. We sometimes get 100,000 customers a day :| Anyhoo, I've been working as a cashier there and I liked it. I was starting to get a bit bored though. Yesterday, I got a PROMOTION. That's right bitches, I'm moving up in the world, HAHA. The only bad part is I'll be working A LOT of overtime in the Christmas season (we'll be open 24 hours starting in Dec., but before then I'll have to stay until like 1am some nights since we're open till midnight now). That suits me just fine though...no customers, a radio, a chair...and a lot of dead guys.

I work in the accounting/cash office now, I handle several thousands of dollars a day. By myself, once I've finished my training.

It's a lot to learn, but I think I'll do fine. I learn fast. Not sure if I get a raise or not though...LOL. I didn't ask, because I didn't want to ruin my chance. I'll find out on my next paycheck **shrug**

I never posted what we eventually named the cat. He is Foof. Foof is he. It's his name, there is no other name for him. He's a big Foof now...he's getting so big. He's around 8 months now. He likes to make big messes, but he's getting a lot better. He's so snuggly and I love my Foofy ♥

Since I last posted in LJ, I've gotten 4 new piercings and 2/3 new tattoos. I'm not sure if I count my new star tattoo(s?) as one or two yet, as they are a set but they're far enough apart to be considered two. I think about the dumbest stuff sometimes. Anyway, I got the two comet stars as a birthday gift to myself. Here is a pict0r:

They look really small here, but they are a fair size and are super brightly coloured. Everyone thinks they are fake because the colours are so vibrant. I went to a new tattoo shop.

Normally, I get tattooed at the same place I get pierced. However, there is a complete and total DOUCHE working there that has tattooed me twice - he has such a bad attitude I didn't want to even risk being tattooed by him again. A friend at work told me about the place that she goes - her tatts are pretty nice so I went to check it out.

I paid $100 for both of my stars. I was quoted $150 to $175...so I left Eric (the new tattoo guy) a $30 tip, as I was prepared to spend that much anyway. I'm so generous.

In October, my friend Cristie and I usually get something done together. She got her first tattoo...she says she'll never do it again, hahaha. It was fun! :) It's my biggest tattoo so far..it took over an hour to do. I'm so happy with it! I love cherry blossoms, and Sakura was my nickname when I was a bit younger...

Piercing wise, I have gotten my nose pierced, both of my nipples pierced (OHGODHURTSSOBAD) and I got a labret piercing about 2 weeks ago.

I went to my usual place to get the labret done. The guy I normally see, Matt, wasn't there that day, it was some other chick. I let her do it. I had my lip pierced two years ago, and there is a wee little scar that is DEAD CENTER under my lip. I had the labret placed a bit lower than the old one. She marked it right below the scar, so it was perfectly centered. She pierced it WAY FUCKING OFF. It wasn't even CLOSE to the dot. Wasn't even touching the dot. I went home and cried, then came out to have it repierced. She still pierced it just a tiny bit too far to the right, but it was acceptable. However, the two holes were so close together that by the time I got home, the holes had meshed into one big hole. For a week I used tiny band-aid pieces to train the stud to the left (read: center)so that the hole would close up around it where I wanted it to be. It was in the center until this morning...somehow it has shifted to the right overnight.

I am still furious. Oh well.

Oh. my. god. There has been so much drama between everyone about everything as far as my real friends go...eugghhhh. Several problem relationships have ENDED, and everything is slowly coming back together. Everyone is getting along again. Everyone is having a good time again.

I've made a LOT of new friends thanks to work. I'm definately more social now, and I enjoy being with people I like. Makes work bearable. Unfortunately, as much as I love these people, I don't EVER see them outside of work :( I'm too busy, they are too busy...it's sad.

Matt and I are approaching 5 and a half years together. We are legally common-law now.

Just kidding. My foot is itchy and I am hungry. Goodnight world ♥
Oh Lord. Good AND Bad news :D

Financial woes. Our rent went up at the end of our lease (only by 17 dollars), so I had to fill out a new direct withdrawl form. However it was not processed in time for May, so I had to pay May's rent with a money order. Not so bad...except that apparantly I have to CANCEL the direct withdrawl...which I did not, because I didn't know I had to...they gave me a paper that said 'your rent is going up so fill this out and hand it in' so I did... I paid the rent on the 30th of April, and on the 1st of May, F.J.M. Properties Inc. withdrew $675 from my $84 bank account, then returned the check thanks to non-sufficient funds. $37.50 in BANK non-sufficient funds fees later, I don't have enough to pay this month's bills. Then I find out that the stupid fucks at F.J.M properties also charge a NSF fee of $25!! AND it's my turn to buy groceries... I can hardly pay $78 worth of bills and buy $100 worth of groceries with $21 dollars...

GOOD NEWS! :D I have two new jobs. I'm a cashier at Farm Boy, which is an Ottawa based grocery store. Unfortunately, I don't start until the 20th of May...which means my rent is coming off the ol' credit card this month, as my first pay won't be until June. I'm also not sure how long I will be there...not because I will want to leave, but because of the uniform policy...tattoos and piercings are out. I'm allowed to have a retainer in my eyebrow instead of removing and replacing it on breaks, since my hair covers it. That's the other problem though - my hair (no more blue :( ). Cashiers are supposed to tie back shoulder-length or longer hair, and mine is long enough that it can be tied. The problem lies in my ear piercings and neck tattoos...I'm only allowed 1 stud earring in each ear (I have 5/6 piercings in my left ear and 4 in my right), which I probably could remove for work, but if I tie back my hair, my tattoos are extremely visible. Uniform shirt covers the one on my chest. I'm really not complaining, I changed my appearance a lot to find a job as soon as possible, but I'm worried they might fire me over something I can't get rid of (my neck tattoos) even though I had them when they hired me, you know?

Other GOOD NEWS: I also have a job at Wal-Mart. I have no idea when I start, or what I do XD I'm fairly certain that I am a cashier, and I do the paperwork on friday. I know that Wal-Mart is pretty lax with their uniform policy in terms of piercings and tattoos, at least, based on what I've seen...when I was there last week for the interview, I saw a cashier with a bridge and lip piercings, and a sales guy with a HUGE tattoo creeping up his neck. I don't think I'll have a problem there =p

OTHER OTHER GOOD NEWS: In an effort to help me pay my bills this month, I've been selling stuff on HH and so far made enough to pay the internet bill... HUGE thanks to halocaustic for helping me out by buying something :D You're my hero this week! I'm also expecting a nice chunk of change sometime in the next week or so, my aunt's hairdresser wants me to make something geisha-esque for his granddaughter, to put on her wall. I REALLY hope that doesn't fall through.

Well, now I've got everything back in order, I am able to offer digital commissions again. Your piece will be created in either a combination of Flash and Photoshop, or Photoshop only. Original characters, fanart, portraits of you or your friends, website logos and mascots, are all allowed. As well as some things I may have forgotten to mention.

Base Prices are as follows:

CHIBI (See samples 1-3, 5)
Sketch: $5
Lineart (see sample #s 5): $10
Flat Colour (no background and very basic colour application): $15
Full Colour (includes abstract background and full shading): $20

NOT CHIBI (See sample 4)
Sketch: $5
Lineart (see sample 4): $13
Flat Colour (no background and very basic colour application): $18
Full Colour (includes abstract background and full shading): $25

Discounts available on multiple orders.

As these commissions will be 100% digital (whereas previously I drew+inked on paper, scanned, then coloured) it will not be possible to mail the originals to you, unless you purchase a high-quality print. Prints come in the following sizes:

- 8.5x11" - standard printer paper size. $5 each, discount for additional copies.
- 11x17" - a nice size for a mini-poster. (If you want a print this size, you'll HAVE to let me know in advance so I can do the drawing large enough.) $8 for one, discount for additional copies.

On to the examples! All of these pieces were 100% digital, so they are accurate representations of what you will be receiving.

Unfinished poster work, but it is a good illustration of a more detailed and less chibi drawing.

All artwork pictured is © to either myself or the person it was created for.

If you are interested in ordering, or have any questions, please contact me via e-mail to scurvy.dog.shiin[at]gmail.com. Be sure to let me know what you are after, and I will give you an accurate quote.

Traditional work is still available, but digital seems to be what everyone is always after. The option is there however, so please contact me if you are interested in that.

We got it at the Canex here on base, and since he's military, he can get it through payroll deductions. Since we chose a 3 year plan, the payments are something I can afford (about $62 a month). I've also paid off about $800 of the total(including taxes). I'll be paying him what I can when I can until it's all paid off.

That is all.

http://www.toshiba.ca/web/product.grp?lg=en&section=1&group=446&product=6123&category=

Fucking cool.
You know I'm Broken...Need Help

So as I mentioned in my last post, my computer is broken, wont be fixed, etc...

In any case, I am taking real-media ONLY commissions to help pay for the little things like food and my website hosting/domain so I can save up the rest of my money for a new computer. I will be offering real media only - can't do digital without a computer :\ Since they are real media, they are more expensive. They take more time, and burn through expensive supplies.

Prices are as follows (all prices are USD!!):

Chibi
Sketch: $3
Ink: $5
Colour Ink: $8
Full-Colour: $13
Full-Colour AND Colour Ink: $15
Background: Add $3

Regular
Sketch: $5
Ink: $8
Colour Ink: $11
Full-Colour: $18
Full-Colour AND Colour Ink: $20
Background: Add $5

I also do more traditional anime/manga style artwork, that is, 'full-sized' art like this: http://extra-muffins.com/AsukaP.jpg But it is even more pricey, so e-mail me for a quote if you are interested in this.

Please note that colour ink refers to the outlines on your drawing being in colour ONLY, the drawing will not be coloured.

If you would like me to mail you your artwork, please add an extra $3...that's the average cost to send anywhere in the world.

I prefer Paypal, but will also accept money orders, checks, and concealed cash AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Here are some fairly recent (some unfinished) examples: Unfortunately the scans are not the best, I am really quite proud of the colouring in these but it doesn't look nearly as nice on the computer :(

[chii] - to be added after scanning
[Selena] - to be added after scanning

All of the pieces shown in this post are for sale, e-mail me for the price of whichever piece you are interested in.

If you have any questions, or would like a specific quote, please feel free to ask anything here and I will do my best to answer. You may also contact me via e-mail, scurvy.dog.shiin[at]gmail.com. If you are unsure about how much what you want would cost, please contact me :) I understand it can be a bit confusing.

Kay, so it's been forever and a half since I last updated.

First off, I am not dead! Hooray!

So, what have I been up to. Hmm. Things here at our apartment are going well. We keep it in order for the most part. I've got two new piercings, and a new tattoo shall be happening sometime in the next month if all goes according to plan. I've been so so so so SOOOOO busy with school, and two jobs. Except now I only have one job. But I'm still busy nonetheless. Going out with friends is rare, but it kicks a lot of ass when it happens and I am really enjoying that. Also busy preparing for an Anime convention (with
mikata!!!!!!!!
) in February. Jess and I are 'friends' again it seems...we're not fighting, anyway. I have a ton of artwork to post someday, I haven't scanned anything other than Q's commission in the past like...month. I haven't had TIMEEEEEE.

I thought this entry would be a mile and a half long. I am so boring. My laptop speaker keeps fizzling and crackling and it's driving me CRAZY.

Now I go to work.

Alright, so it's been a while since my last entry, I guess it's time for an update. Let's see... Matt moved in 2 weeks ago. That's pretty much the biggest news. Our apartment is now fully furnished, we just need to do some decorating to really make it our home. I've got lots of sewing to do. We've been doing a lot, going out in the afternoons/evenings almost every day, it's a welcome change from the monotony. We've also been doing life drawing classes with kina on wednesdays. I'm really learning a lot, it's great.

School officially starts on Tuesday. I HAD fridays off, but one of my classes got cancelled and I had to register a different one...on a friday morning. Poop.

We went to our friend Cristie's last night for some drinking and catching up, pretty much everyone is in Ottawa for school this year, which is really nice. I've only hung out with these people (Cristie excepted) a handful of times, but we get along really well. It's nice to hang out with people for a change.

Not online much anymore. I'll pop in once or twice a day to check my regulars, DeviantArt, Gmail, Heavenly Hair, and LJ.

Really in need of money, no surprise there. Still jobless, still utterly broke. Commissions have really slowed down now that I'm not selling them for utterly cheap. Sadly, not many people out there are willing to pay more than $5 for something that takes hours of time, tons of effort, and about $6 worth of ink per picture. Very few people appreciate it.

Since nobody cares about my life and would rather see my art, here are a few things I've done recently.

Going back to Cristie's later, nobody has any idea what we're gonna do though.

I thought I would have so much to say, seeing as how I haven't posted in so long. Guess I was wrong!
